Ghostly Gold in Delray Beach
It was one of those grey afternoons, really. Frank-a long-time regular-walked into Estate Buyer Delray Beach, his hand slumped in one of his khaki pockets; what he revealed would change it all.
"Got something I think you're gonna dig," he said, placing a tarnished yet very intrinsically designed gold medallion upon the counter.
The clerk looked at it skeptically. "Some kind of antique?"
"Yeah," Frank muttered, scratching his head. "Found it in my grandfather's attic after he passed. But, uh, weird things happened when I touched it."
The clerk raises an eyebrow. "Like what?
"I know it sounds crazy," Frank said, "but every time I touched it, I heard whispers. At first, I thought it was just me… but the more I held it, the louder they got. And then, one night, the thing glowed."
The clerk blinked. "Are you saying it glowed like it had some kind of… magic powers?"
Frank sighed, clearly exasperated. "I don’t know, man. Maybe it was the old house. But I’m getting rid of it. Too creepy."
After inspecting the gold medallion, the clerk was impressed by its age and craftsmanship, though it seemed… oddly heavy for its size.
"I can give you something good for this," he finally said-the desk clerk having likely seen it all by now-but warned him as well, "This object just may have some history. I'm only informing you of the possibility, as I want honesty in any possible transactional matter."
Frank nodded gratefully. "Just take it," he said. "I don't need anymore weird stuff in my life."
Later that day, a man walked in—a regular estate buyer with an eye for rare pieces. He made a stop in front of the counter and set his eyes on the medallion.
"Is this for sale?" he asked. "I have seen similar ones in a collector's catalog. It's rare, highly sought after."
The clerk nodded, handing it over for inspection. "You know the story behind it?
The man laughed. "Just that it's probably worth a small fortune. But hey, if it glows and whispers at you-that's some extra value right there."
He handed over a generous sum.
A few weeks later, he came back, looking flustered. "Okay, I don't know what's going on," he said, "but this medallion is giving me the best luck ever. I've found antique watches, rare coins, and even hit a jackpot at a casino! It's like it's channeling some sort of energy."
The clerk smirked. "Looks like the haunting gold found a good home after all."
